Behavioural Assessment

Our thorough assessment evaluates your dog's behaviour and provides insights into the root cause of any issues. This forms the basis for effective and tailored solutions to address your dog's specific needs.

Your Experienced & Qualified Dog Behaviourist

I'm Elizabeth Steward, and I founded Best Behaviour on a commitment to effective solutions, focusing squarely on your dog's well-being and your peace of mind.

With a strong foundation in science-led practice, I am a qualified Dog Behaviourist holding a Higher Diploma in Canine Behaviour Management, and I am proud to be an Associate Member of the APBC (Association of Pet Behaviour Counsellors). With over 20 years of experience working with dogs, my expertise is rooted in real-world results and ethical, positive methods.

Are Unwanted Behaviours Holding You Back?

If you're living with a dog demonstrating unwanted, embarrassing, or stressful problems, you don't have to navigate it alone. I provide expert advice and practical demonstrations to help eliminate unwanted behaviours, restoring balance and happiness to your home.

I specialise in addressing, but am not limited to, the following common challenges:

  • Anxiety & Phobias: Fear of people, other dogs, or sounds.

  • Separation Anxiety: Including destructive behaviour, self-mutilation, howling, or inappropriate house soiling.

  • Aggression: Towards people, other dogs, or animals.

  • Toileting Issues: Inappropriate house soiling or territory marking.

The Behaviour Consultation Package

My goal is to modify established, unwanted behaviours to extinction or to a level that is manageable, making for a much happier relationship between you and your dog.

The Process

  1. Vet Referral: Before booking, your dog must be referred by your veterinarian, and you must complete a detailed behavioural questionnaire. This ensures a holistic view of your dog's health.

  2. Home Visit: I will visit you in your home for the initial consultation. It is preferable for all family members to be present, as seeing your dog interact with everyone is invaluable to the assessment.

  3. Coaching & Plan: During the visit, I will assess your dog's behaviour, provide clear demonstrations, and coach you on the necessary training techniques. Your commitment to adhering to the plan is crucial for success.

Puppy behaviour development & training course.

Undivided attention through one to one coaching to suit you and your puppies needs

For the developing puppy the first few months are the most important time of their lives. The first few months influence development and future behaviour.  Training at this stage increases the likelihood of having a well balanced adult dog. Many dogs develop behavioural problems as they reach maturity through inappropriate training or no training at all. I decided that this would be the perfect course for owners to provide them with information and practical skills to ensure they have a well behaved family pet.
